Challenges of Scene Management in Traffic Collisions from the Perspective of Road Emergency Responders in East Azerbaijan, Iran

Introduction Thousands of traffic collisions occur each year on Iran's roads. This study aimed to investigate the challenges scene management in road East Azerbaijan Province Iran. Methods Data were collected using in-depth semi-structured interviews and analysed by content coding merging. Subcategories themes then extracted after integrating similar codes. Participants selected purposive sampling method, continued until data saturation was reached. Results Twenty participants interviewed; nine categories from data: infrastructure problems, lack responders’ preparedness, triage challenges, deficiencies limitations, special (hazardous) incidents, communication problems with casualties, coordination, psychosocial support responders, cultural social challenges. Conclusion Each collision requires an immediate effective response; however, this involves several as its process is inter-sectoral issue. The major challenge coordination among different responders.
